I stumbled upon this eBay deal:

http://cgi.ebay.com/Vintage-RCA-Mural-B-W-Portable-TV-Works-Great_W0QQitemZ170143154802QQihZ007QQcategoryZ7337 4QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

It's a solid-state B&W portable, same as others I've seen, but this one (seller said) is a "MURAL TV" version. That's RCA's hotel/motel edition, as the Lyceum TV is their hospital/school model.

I never have seen a motel TV this small (except for a late 40s Hoffman motel coin-op set.) I think it's interesting...

good to see that its working as well. Most of the sets that ear used germanium or early silicon devices which were somewhat unreliable. That one must have very light use!

I think he just picked up the "Mural" tag as a fluke...Anybody else see the auction above this one for a early-mid '50s RCA 21" console, a std, garden-variety B&W, for $495 ? Granted, it IS good shape, DOES work, but...$50 would be more like it.

I have a couple of those sets, pretty good performers. I've heard they were RCA's first solid state TV. Does anybody know?

I think that's true. Not sure, but I can't remember ever seeing any earlier RCA solid state portable B&W, but it may be about the same year as the CTC-47.
