thats a aweful lot of money for a old tv . However i guess if someone wants it badd enough , they will pay for it , but 12 grand is a bit high .

Especially with 150 of them floating around. I mean, I might consider it if the set were rarer than that with, say, only 120 still existant....

And with a bad CRT , no chance of operating the set unless another CRT is located and that's even harder then finding the set.

Dang... Chandler is a Phoenix suburb. I'd go check it out if I was out there.

If hes in Chandler,he probably picked it up at an estate sale, since so many affluent people move to the Phoenix area to retire.Maybe I should quit my day job and go estate sale hunting:D

During the last two or three weeks, a CT-100 chassis and cabinet popped up separately on eBay. I think the hposter chassis went for $800 something and the cabinet didn't meet reserve, with a bid of who knows what.

All you need to make a watchable TV is that 64 million dollar picture tube!

Just pulled from E-smay,
I had already been outbid and was on my way to Phoenix:tears:

REALLY bad photos, eBay pulled ad: Hmmm... Sounds like somebody in a foreign land saw what the chassis went for, and decided to offer his (non-existant) CT-100 for sale. Did anybody get his eBay username? Curious if he got thrown out of eBay. When a seller cancels his own listing, it shows "ITEM HAS ENDED", and still shows the ad. This time, it says "ITEM CANCELED OR REMOVED", which is an eBay internal action and not the choice of the seller.

I will delete this copy next week. This is only for personal information.

Thanks Eckhard for saving the listing. I must have been sleeping; this one got by me.

The only reference in the Living list to a CT-100 in Arizona is from 2002 when I got a report of a "...CT-100 working in a Farnsworth tribute by Arizona nearly 10 years ago."

I tried to send an inquiry to the seller but the system wouldn't allow it for a cancelled item.

It's all very fishy.

Had to be a scam, The seller claimed to have a feedback of 473, yet when you look it only shows two feedbacks, one in 2003, the other 2004. I have seen this on car auctions where you can buy an original 1967 Mustang or 1970 Dodge Challenger with only 50,000 miles for $7,200 buy it now at a different email address.

Not a scam. I know the seller and the set is real. He just isn't very good with his Ebay listings. I suggested that he list it in another category with better photos. I suspect that's why he ended the auction and that you'll see it again soon.

I did not mean to say that london27 was behind it. The legit auctions somehow get hijacked by someone else who runs the scam. I meant no disrespect to london27.

Same here. I figured it was a hijacked account, and the fraudster did a search to see what would sell fast. My friend had somebody steal his password by some kind of fake eMail, then next day, he found that he had about 50 digital cameras listed for Buy-It-Now with somebody else' PayPal account overseas. He caught it in time, but this happenes all the time!

$10K buy-it-now... Man-alive; they'll beat a path to his door and get in a fist fight on his porch to grab the set for that low price!

In all seriousness, he really should get someone to help out with some good photos. The photo situation as it stands will keep the price low, which is good for AK-ers who now know the seller is OK through Steve's acknowledgement, and will trust in bidding. But nobody's going to bid based on the photos alone, I think.

We don't know what the reserve is. The buy it now price is high, but remember that old TV prices have gone up dramatically since the last CT-100 was sold. The CBS RX-90 with a questionable tube went for $8,300, and the last few prewar sets have sold for almost double the prices they got last year. Who knows what this one will go for. It may bring only $3k, but it could go much higher.

It says right in the listing "It is untested, and its picture tube is not good."
