I finally got my tuner back and have recapped most of it. I have a problem with some white lines on half the picture. Looks like it may be some type of horiz foldover or something like that. I'm sure you pros have run into this a few times. I have tried about everything i could think of on this. The horiz drive control does make them change somewhat. The hi volt cap has not been changed yet because i haven't been able to find one yet (500mmfd x20,000 volts). Appreciate any help on this i can get. I took a picture of it if i can get it to attach. Caps from china, but 100% feedback. Not promoting the other item, just showing it as an example. They're around, maybe even Radio Shack. White lines have been discussed a lot here -- you can probably keyword search for "stabilizer" or "Blanking" or maybe "Macrovision". The VBI that's broadcast today has a lot of junk in it (closed-captioning, for example) that our old TV's can't cope with. Start by filtering it out before troubleshooting the set. It might be working perfectly already.

I think this link will do for the picture. The lines are there with no signal applied to the set. There is a problem in the horiz or hi volt some where. I'm not familiar with this model. It looks like ringing to me. Does this set have electromagnetic or electrostatic deflection? If its got a deflection yoke then check the capacitors in and around the deflection yoke assembly for leakage or opens.

Can't be too much more help there unless the set was in front of me.

Yes the set has a yoke on it.

Pictures are important. When you said "white lines on half the picture" I imagined them being horizontal, on the top half of the picture, not vertical, on the left half. These lines are not VBI interference. They are horizontal drive lines.

They're not Barkhausen lines (so don't go down that path).

Ringing in the horizontal oscillator. Most vintage TV repair books have a chapter on it. Yout HO tube might test good but still have a problem, try a swap. Of course, always suspect wax/paper caps in the area.
