Hi All
I'm looking at my neighbor's TV set which is a Magnavox model RS2568 chassis # 25Y105-00AA. There is a little 2.5Amp B+ fuse that looks like a 1/2 watt resistor that opened. If I can fit it...will a glass pigtail of the same rating work? The horizontal output transistor is shorted (NTE 2353). The replacement tansistor is rather expensive so I don't want to pop the new one. Is there something that could have caused it to short. I have made that mistake before by not checking further. So any suggestions on what else to check for would be appreciated, if there is anyone out there who might be familiar with this chassis.
Thanks

Also resolder the horizontal driver transformer.Bad solder connections on the legs of the transformer are common on those and it causes the transistor to fail.

It is in the 130v. line, and will probably be "puffed up" on top. it WILL cause some bad problems on these sets. it is 100uf at 200volts or so, and is behind the flyback, and the regulator sink is in front of it.

And also, resolder the driver transformer and resistors of of it.

I finally got back to the repair of thid TV. I found a split opened and melted critical HV cap .01 2% @ 1.6KV ) original part marked 2KV) off the collector of the horiz. output transistor to ground. Anyone know where I can obtain a proper replacement or a suitable substitute?
